Card with a Window..FAIL!

So..it looks like I have some explaining to do. I signed up to create a card with a window this week, which I did, but didn't finish :(   Before you get all upset..let me explain..
I had this awesome window in mind and I knew with some hard core craft time I could accomplish it. However, once I got all the mechanics done, I never wanted to see the card again! LOL I poured a day into just the measuring, the moving parts, and the overall design for the basics of the card.
I got the mechanics, I got the scene, but I just couldn't get the outside the way I wanted. So I took the pics and decided I would show you all what I did so far.

This first pic is of the window closed..
(I apologize for the glare on the window, there was just no way to avoid it :()

And this pic is of the roman shade starting to open as you pull the tab on the top..

And this is the pic of the shade all the way up..

I used the Nursery Rhymes Cricut cartridge for the little boy silhouette. I thought he was perfect for the look of a little one checking the tree at night :) I also cuttlebugged each shade panel so that it didn't all match perfectly..giving it the appearance of an actual flowing piece of fabric.
For the most part, I like the card..but the tag and outside have MUCH to be desired! And to be honest I think after all of the hassle it was to engineer this bad boy, I am kind of tired of looking at it. I am frustrated with it I, so I will put it on the back shelf and come back to it when I am darn good and ready! LOL
So again I apologize for not having a finished project, but I am sure you can see where I was going with it. And I will be super upset if someone tells me that there is a tutorial for this kind of card somewhere, because I looked and looked to make sure this was my own original idea and I found nothing! (probably because no else is crazy enough! HAHAHA!)
Hope you enjoyed my "could have been better", "failed window" card. Please be sure to check out the rest of the design teams amazing projects today at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com

  2. WOW! I really don't think you can call this a failure. I can see where you are headed with it and I really think you should create a tutorial on how you made the widow shade work. We all have a project like this. YOU will come back to it and it will be spectacular when it's done.

  5. I wouldn't necessarily call this card a failure but a work in progress. I totally get where you are going with this card and would love it if you kept working on it and tried to finish it. Sometime it take a couple of prototypes before "the one" appears, so dont give up, the finished card will totally be worth it :)
    TFS!

  6. This is one of the MOST creative things I've seen in quite a while. Thanks for sharing! It's brave to post what you consider your "fails". I just keep trying until I get something I like, then I photograph and post. I admire you! My works can be found at http://koalatcrafts.weebly.com/ I hope you'll stop by sometime and check it out. I would love constructive criticism!
